Spring
Spring at Marrakech is golf high season — and the most prized. From March to May, temperatures rise from 22°C to 28°C, days lengthen, and courses are at their peak. March and April offer the perfect equation: clear skies, palm-grove spring fragrances (oranges, jasmines, blooming bougainvilleas), optimal technical conditions. May marks the transition to summer heat, but stays excellent in early month. It's also tourism's high season: book months ahead for the best Rivage villas and tee-times. Off-golf compensation is exceptional: medinas, riads, Moroccan gastronomy, Atlas day trips.
Summer
Summer at Marrakech is unsuited to golf. From June to August, temperatures climb to 38-42°C — courses stay open but thermal discomfort is extreme. Local golfers play only at dawn (5:30-9am) or dusk (6-9pm). For those travelling to Marrakech in summer, golf isn't the main objective: favour the cool medina, pools, day trips to Essaouira (200 km, cooler climate thanks to the ocean), or Ouarzazate. Rivage villas with pools and cool patios offer essential comfort for this season.
Autumn
Autumn anoints Marrakech as one of the great European golf destinations for the coming cold season. From October to November, temperatures drop (32°C early October, 24°C in November), courses regain peak form, and European tourism begins arriving. October offers an interesting window (still warm but not oppressive), November is probably the most complete month: perfect temperatures, clear skies, impeccable courses, palm grove turning golden. Rivage villas in the palm grove offer an unmatched setting this season.
Winter
Winter at Marrakech is, arguably, the greatest golf season in all of geographic Europe. From December to February, daytime temperatures are perfect (18-22°C), skies clear, courses in optimal condition. It's when European golfers, tired of rain or cold, come chasing golf and sun. Rivage villas in the palm grove or course-side are at peak season — book months ahead. Off-golf compensation is immense: medinas, riads, Moroccan gastronomy, hammams, Atlas day trips (skiable at Oukaïmeden), Agafay desert. Nights are cool (7-9°C) — favour villas with fireplaces.
January+
Ideal month. 18-20°C daytime, 7-9°C night, near-permanent sun, courses in perfect condition. One of the year's best windows. Booking essential.
February+
Excellent. 20-22°C, conditions identical to January. Hotels and villas often fully booked — reserve months ahead.
March+
Season peak. 22-24°C, clear skies, courses in peak form, palm grove awakening. Prices at peak.
April+
Still excellent. 25°C, lengthening days, spring fragrances (orange, jasmine). Nice alternative for those wanting fewer crowds than February-March.
May+
Pivot towards heat. 28°C, still comfortable but summer approaching. Irrigated courses, mild nights, dropping prices.
June+
Summer settling in. 33-35°C daytime — favour tee-times 6am-9am or 5pm. Not recommended for intensive golf.
July+
Heat peak (38-42°C). Unsuited to golf save extreme passion. Dead season.
August+
Same as July. Least recommended month.
September+
Gradual return. 30-32°C early month, more breathable late. First acceptable windows late.
October+
Excellent season return. 26-28°C, clear skies, courses regaining splendour. One of the best windows.
November+
Ideal month. 22-24°C, perfect conditions, first winter lights, palm grove turning golden.
December+
Very good. 18-20°C daytime, clear skies. European winter golf season — Marrakech welcomes golfers chasing sun. Berber Christmas markets.
