Rivage

Craft

The hands behind the houses.

A Rivage house does not arrive ready. It is tended, patiently, by a community of people we have come to consider colleagues.

The cane-weaver in Grasse who remakes the Luberon garden chairs each spring. The linen-press in Porto-Vecchio that has been folding the same sheets for three decades. The glassblower in Murano who replaces the hurricane lamps on the Ionian terrace. The Anglo-Florentine gardener who keeps the citrus trees alive through February.

We believe the texture of a stay is made of these small, steady efforts. We try to pay them well, to keep their names on our record, and to return their calls promptly.

If you are a craftsperson working in any of the regions where Rivage keeps houses, and you would like to be considered for our register of trusted makers, please write to craft@rivage.co.
